About Yvette

Yvette Chérie Callum is an abstract artist whose work explores the transfer of energy through pigment, texture, and movement. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she paints intuitively—using her hands as a direct connection between emotion and surface—allowing each piece to emerge without a predetermined outcome.

Her artistic journey began in 1995, when a close friend encouraged her to pursue a long-held desire to paint. With a simple set of materials—canvases, oils, and an easel—Yvette began creating on the floor of her bedroom. What started as an instinctive exploration quickly evolved into a dedicated practice rooted in expression, freedom, and presence.

In 2005, she opened Yvette Page Gallery in the San Pedro Arts District, a space created to showcase her original works while also supporting emerging and established artists, and encouraging youth to explore their creativity. Though the physical gallery closed in 2007, its spirit continues today through Yvette Chérie Gallery.

Yvette’s work is defined by layered pigment and tactile surface, often built over time to create depth and dimensionality. Her process is physical and immersive—each piece carrying the imprint of movement, energy, and lived experience.

Her current work reflects an evolution of her practice, with a growing focus on light, reflection, and dimensional presence within the surface of the canvas. This direction expands her exploration beyond pigment alone, allowing the work to engage both visually and spatially.

Based in California, Yvette continues to create original works for private collectors and curated exhibitions, with a focus on developing a refined and cohesive body of work that bridges emotion, texture, and light.Today, Yvette continues to paint with the same spirit that started it all—intuitive, expressive, and grounded in personal experience. She now shares that same love of art with her daughter, Kennedy, passing forward both creativity and freedom of expression.
